    I own a copy of NBA live, and have only rented ESPN,

    but I have to say that the modes of the game including the Dynasty mode SUCK compared to ESPN which has all kinds of different modes, including the one where you make your own player and gradually build him up, that seemed pretty fun but i only rented the game...

    The only drawback on ESPN and the reason I didnt buy it, is that the gameplay is horrendous, not even comparable to NBA Live. Say what you want about NBA live but you have to admit the gameplay is very good. When playing ESPN, it was no comparison, and kept me from enjoying the game. However keep in mind that I had already played NBA Live a bunch and in time might have got used to the ESPN gameplay, but it was crap.

    Hopefully next year they will combine the gameplay modes and design setup of ESPN with the game play of NBA Live, and you would get the ultimate NBA game
