USA Today is now reporting talks of sending Sammy Sosa to Baltimore in exchange for Jerry Hairston Jr., Sir Sidney Ponson the fatty fat, and a prospect. I've seen several rumors of a Sosa to B-more trade now, so I don't really think this is likely, but man- how stupid a trade would that be? Fat Boy rocks!!!!

That is rediculous that they are even pondering over this. Why on earth would you give up young talent like that for someone, who has corked his bat, lost at least 20 pounds in the year or two. AND MORE THAN THAT, HIS OVERRATED CONTRACT!!! we are better off without him. I think they orioles need to start getting priorities in order and go after someone like Odalis Perez, who is a young lefty with good stuff, or even better they should have gone after Hudson more, if they are willin to give this up for Sosa they should have been willing to give that up or more for a possible CY young winner.

Why would Chicago want Hairston, 2B, if they just resigned Walker, 2B, and also signed Richard Lewis, 2B, this offseason?

the reason for the cubs acquiring hairston would be to use him as either A) our leadoff hitter and starting corner OFer OR B) a super utility/sub type of guy.

if we(cubs) go through with the orioles deal then it would fill more than needed spots we are in need. only thing is that we would hope that our "in house" closer will do a good job. so i think that this could make sense but i still wanna trade for huff from tampa not only can he hit but he is a lafty bat that we need in a dominately right handed line-up..

I am predicting that this deal doesn't fall through. This contract is terribly problematic for Baltimore to handle, and we'd be losing decent players. Sosa isn't worth it, and I'll bet those knuckleheads we call general managers of the Orioles will realize it.
