The Arizona Diamondbacks have orders from ownership to cut salary and this most certainly means trading away Randy Johnson. With Richie Sexson set for free agency, the Chicago White Sox are close to pulling off a trade for SP Randy Johnson. The Chicago White Sox will pick up all of his $16 million due for 2005 and they are prepared to trade SP Jon Garland along with All-Star Paul Konerko (Giambi ripped him off last season, damn steroid taking ape). Paul Konerko hit 41 homeruns last season and would replace Sexson at 1st Base. The deal is close but not finished. -ESPN

Ok, why in the hell would Randy go to the Sox??? They cant win their own division much less be a title contender. At least we get something decent for him, i just dont see why he would want to go to the cold, and still probably not even make the playoffs. Stay in Arizona, where at least you can golf and swim year round. Paul Konerko is at least something for him but look at this trade how all of it worked out IF this happens.

You are an ass. The Sox are above .500 every year the last 4 years and they won the division in 2000.

Sure they won in 2000 but the Twins have kicked the shit out them ever since. Like say, they cant win the division in the past 4 years, so what makes you think they will go to the series this year. Even with Randy I think the Twins would still beat the Sox for the division. And lose the 1B that hit 41 HR's last year...that would be a major hit in offensive production im assuming.

Every person I've seen talk about this on ESPN/FSN or whatever says he wont accept a trade to the White Sox.

Around but havent been posting for some reason.

Yankees, Angels and Red Sox are the likely teams that Johnson would accept a trade to.

Yankee would offer Vasquez and a FA signing and some young talent if they can trade for some.

Sox would offer a FA signing and probably Wakefield/Bronson whateverhis name is and some minor leaguers.

Angels would offer most likely Ortiz and minor leaguers. Since they are trying to get pitchers off the books(Sele, Ortiz, some other guy I forget) they could always include them and some salary.

The Sox are good, they finished 9 games out of first this year and 4 games out last year, that is not an ass whoopin. Harold Reynolds and Kruk both picked the Sox last year to win. Your being an ass because the Twins have won the division 3 times in a row, the Twins are good, but we both know next year the Sox will be favored to win by some people again in the preseason. The Sox are still a good team by MLB standards dude. And teams come out of nowhere every year and go to the world series so I dont know what your last remark has to do with anything.

They fell apart though in the second half much like my Tigers. Sox have a good team but I think it would hurt them more to lose Konerko and a starting pitcher for Randy. Plus he has already said he doesnt wanna go there.

I agree that if you send Paul Konerko away you guys arent gonna score any runs while that may be ok when RJ is pitchin what about your other 4 starters that are gonna need run support dont forget your are loosing Maggs and the big hurt is just that Hurt. So then you are left with the same thing the D'backs had 1 good starter who is 42 by the way and not much else, this seems like a quick fix trade for a run at the world series like the redsox had last year with Schill but you guys dont have the core of players to be sending that guy away for what 1 maybe 2 seasons of a pitcher at the end of a long great career plus i think the dbacks have learned from their mistakes and arent giving up any other future hof's for the likes of a Kasey Fossum  that is a 1 in a mill fuck up plus the no trade clause no way this happens RJ will want to know they will win where he goes not think he may have a chace if the planets are in perfect alignment. the white sox should take that money and spend it in their own center field you arent gonna find one better than Maggs so keep him that is what i would want as a fan.

    You guys are funny....

the only reason Konerko hit so many homers at the Cell was because of the new roof on the top of the upper deck. If you guys didn't know, the Sox broke their franchise record for homers, and that was without Maggs or Thomas. I say trade away konerko and gip some other team off, while we can put a decent utility guy at first in Gload, and get a ticket seller in Randy Johnson. I don't know why he would accept a trade to the Sox, but Ken Williams has something above his sleeves because he didn't accept a trade last July when the White Sox wanted him. I think it will probably hurt our team chemistry, but improve our pitching immensely, as it went up from a 4.12 era in 2003 to a 4.92 era in 2004. Again, as we have seen so far in baseball, it is pitching that wins you games in the regular season, and David Ortiz in the postseason.

randy is not going to the white sox. he isn't even in the country right now and ownership isn't even considering a trade until he returns and straight out tells them he wants to leave arizona. on nbc this morning the reporter said that even though rumors run rampant around the league the team has no intentions of trading randy, but would consider them if he returns home and specifically tells them he wants to leave. then ownership stated that he will most certainly not be given away, they want a large return for him and he ultimately controls which team he will accept with. randy has made no comment so anything that you read in any town that says he wants to be traded or a trade is close or likely is total bullshit. until he states he wants to leave there is no trade, no trade rumor, and no trade possibility. be sure to write that you are only speculating in your thread title when you write stuff like this.
